Ellen Hobbs Hirshman

Attorney Ellen Hobbs Hirshman joined Lowe Trial Lawyers in 2023 and has been a trial attorney in the fields of medical negligence, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and personal injury law since 1982. In 1994, after having been offered partnership at a nationally respected defense firm that defended physicians and healthcare providers in medical negligence cases, Ms. Hirshman decided instead to form her own law firm, where she vigorously pursued claims on behalf of injured patients in medical negligence, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and personal injury cases. Ms. Hirshman is uniquely situated in Greater Cleveland and throughout Ohio to serve as lead counsel in representing families. Ms. Hirshman possesses a passionate commitment to representing those people who need her most, patients and their families whose lives are forever changed by medical negligence, wrongful death, and catastrophic injuries. She is well respected as a leading trial attorney by her peers and judges throughout Ohio.

Ms. Hirshman is a past trustee and member of the executive committee for the Ohio Association for Justice (OAJ) and serves as past President and board member of The Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys (CATA), and Chair of the CATA Community Outreach Committee. Ms. Hirshman has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer since 2012 and maintains a Superb AVVO rating, as well as an AV Preeminent Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating for over 30 years for her legal ability and professional ethical standards based on confidential surveys of members of the Bar and Judiciary. From 1996–1998, she served at the invitation of the Ohio Supreme Court to serve as a Commissioner on the Board of Commissioners for Grievances and Discipline, which reports directly to the Ohio Supreme Court and is responsible for adjudicating and enforcing all claims of attorney and judicial misconduct.

Ms. Hirshman has been invited to lecture on trial tactics and techniques, as well as ethical responsibility issues by OAJ and CATA. She also volunteers for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy program which conducts moot court competitions for high school students. Ms. Hirshman is married, has three sons, and dedicates her free time as a volunteer with End Distracted Driving program, and visits high schools all over NE Ohio to educate students about the dangers of distracted driving.
